The gym KoR Komplex is probably one of the coolest gyms I have seen in a long time! They literally have a Ninja Warrior course set up which is perfect for any type of obstacle course racing. I really wish we had one closer (hmmmm...maybe Brendan would want to franchise). It's amazing how when you start training for something completely out your norm you feel muscles activated that you haven't trained before. I have been training for "something" everyday for the past 15 years. Still, there are muscle groups I may have not worked before. That's why it's so important to cross train, try new activities and change your workouts up from time to time.
Stuff, well, the only stuff going on in my head right now is what an amazing, active 2016 it has been so far. I got out of that wheelchair on a mission to be as active and mobile as possible. I succeeded. In 2016, I completed the Flying Pig three way challenge, 3 triathlons, 3 biathlons, a few 5Ks and a Century ride. I have maintained my strength workouts during the season which was a good thing (espeically since I got a call from ANW). There have been some road bumps along the way. My brain doesn't always cooperate which has caused some balance issues and falls. I live in pain every day which can cause a lack in motivation to train sometimes (and the desire for wine, not gonna lie). My PTSD has caused some melt downs and tears; and poor G tries to comfort me. Sometimes, there is no comforting a hot headed, tempered Irish woman with a TBI & PTSD. That's all I got to say about that one (G has already earned his angel wings).
Another awesome thing that happened in 2016 is working back with Hammer Nutrition. I have met so many awesome people while teaching nutrition clinics and working events. I believe that my work with Hammer can lead to other opportunities whether it be with the sports nutrition company itself or somewhere else. It has definitely sparked an interest for me to go back to school for nutrition. But, that will have to wait until I figure out what the beginning of 2017 is going to be like. At some point, I want to slow down. My active and busy 2016 has made me a little tired and soon it will be time to take a little break. Not stop....just slow down.
Well, that's all I got on stuff. Until next time! A body in motion stays in motion.
